Judas, Jesus and San Lorenzo
This is the most different Holy Week I have ever had. Geeze! I have never imagined that something like this would happen.
Just a small recap on what happened the past weeks. After my contract has ended, I had a few weeks of rest. Although I wasn't able to enjoy it that much due to my pollen allergies during Spring. The weather was okay but I always have to sneeze accompanied by a runny nose and itchy eyes. Damn!
Last two weeks ago, the classes started and I never went to school. Fuck it! I don't wanna go to school anymore. I also can't since I'll be having a job next week. Besides, I am having what they call "Frühjahrsmüdigkeit", or restless-/tiredness due to the allergies and/or changing of season. As in I feel so exhausted. Para akong pagod na pagod. Ang takaw ko sa tulog. Sobra!
Before the Holy Week, I have been busy downloading pictures that I'll be using for the powerpoint presentation on Good Friday. We have been using this almost over a year ago in masses specially during homilies. I was in charge in animating "The Seven Last Words" and Good Friday mass. That's not so easy since I have to make sure it would fit with the text they'll be reading and it has to look good as well when it is beamed on the wall. I was also in charge in selecting youth prayer leaders for the "Via Crusis" and I was also one of the actors in the skit that we will be playing on Good Friday. Whew!
Maundy Thursday (Washing of the Feet)
Arrived late at the church, hoping that I won't be picked as one of the apostles. But as soon as I entered the church door, Ate Lina hurriedly approached me and took me by my arm going to the Sacristi telling me not to decline. As I enter the Sacristi, Danica, one of the sacristan (or should I say sacristana?), told me that I am the twelth. I then raised my voice and told to everyone, "We are now complete! Here is Judas." Everybody laughed.
Pasyon
After the mass, we had a practice for the "Passion Play". Then, we headed for the "Pabasa". This has been a yearly tradition here brought by Filipinos. Although only attended by few Filipinos, it has been covered once in a report by Deutsche Welle. Felt a bit at home. Lalo na at kasama ko pa ang ibang taga-Bulacan.
Good Friday
We went to a church on top of a hill to have our yearly "Via Crusis" and for three years in a row the youth has always been the prayer leaders and I am always assigned to organize them. Even if some of the prayer leaders turned down their duties on the last minute, I had lesser stress this year because I was helped by fellow youth leaders. I went well and I was glad it did. By the way, we had more participants this year and most of them came from different cities.
Veneration of the Cross
After the "Via Crusis", we got ourselves Fishmac at Mcdo and headed straight to the church to have a practice for the skit of the "Passion Play". Then, after the german finished their service, I fixed my laptop and the beamer for the presentation and then the sound system. After fixing it all, I left it with a co-youth leader. Just last Maundy Thrusday, I was Judas and on Good Friday, I was Jesus. Geeze, that was so weird! I mean, "Why me?"
While "The Seven Last Words" were being read, I was just at the sacristi, internalizing. I need it! I so need it. Then, as the mass started, I went out of the church to the ecntrance and waited for my cue. As I was waiting, I can help but cry while internalizing. This reminds me of the "Agony in the Garden". The feeling was soo weird. I can't explain it. It's just soo different. Then, the time came.
It was well delivered. As in the whole cast has played their respective roles in the best way they could. The congregation was so touced and moved by it, as they attested. They even applaud after that. Something that I am not so amazed about. I mean, we're didn't played it to be praised. We did that to make them visualized the passion that Christ went through. Well, that's due to the flow of emotion as many have told.
After that, as I expected, may pasa ang mga tuhod ko. We have forgotten to look for knee pads. Hindi na rin kami nakagawa kahit sapin man lang. Ang laki ng pasa, tapos hindi lang tig-isa sa magkabilang tuhod. May mga napuruhan pang parte. Tapos, ngayon medyo sumasakit pa. I hope walang nangyaring injury or something.
Black Saturday
We had a choir practice for the Easter Mass. We stayed until the early morning next day at Ritchie's house drinking and karaoke singing. That was great but quite tiring.
Easter Sunday
We sang in the mass. It was okay, a bit hectic though because we have to help each other in setting up the equipments needed. It was all worth it though. Lahat ng pagod at puyat from the preparations. Kasama na ang mga pasa ko sa tuhod.
We headed straight to my tita's house and had lunch. Tapos, merienda naman kina Kuya Lando, raclette and grill. Tapos, punta kami sa surprise birthday party for Ate Meng. Then, balik kami kina Kuya Lando para uminom, kumata, magpuyat at magkulitan. Para kaming nag-station of the... plate. hehehe
Easter Monday
We had a general practice for the San Lorenzo play which will be shown on Friday. Kahit masakit ang mga tuhod ko, sige pa rin. Torture scene and all.
I treated myself naman to Starbucks in Cologne. Hehehe.
Easter Tuesday
I started my new job for the next few weeks, until mid May. Nice to be back here. I would tell some more about it next time.
